This work provides a deeper understanding of how overweight stigma operates in a collective context. I investigate a French online community of overweight women. First, I identify the elements that contribute to experiencing the stigma of overweight and how they interact with consumption. Then, I look at the role of the community for consumers that have distanced themselves from the market. I explain how joining a community of similar others can change consumer coping from avoidance to approach. Finally, I discuss how communities contribute to approaching the market. I identify the communal practices that operate this change. I also identify how these practices are able to reverse the stigma process. In summary, this dissertation explores how an online community can have destigmatisation effects. It sheds light on a new role of the community and how it supports the market and improves consumer well-being.
This article, which forms the introduction to a collection of studies, focuses on processes of state construction and deconstruction in contemporary Africa. Its objective is to better understand how local, national and transnational actors forge and remake the state through processes of negotiation, contestation and bricolage. Following a critique of the predominant state failure literature and its normative and analytical shortcomings, the authors identify four key arguments of the scholarly literature on the state in Africa, which concern the historicity of the state in Africa, the embeddedness of bureaucratic organizations in society, the symbolic and material dimensions of statehood and the importance of legitimacy. A heuristic framework entitled ‘negotiating statehood’ is proposed, referring to the dynamic and partly undetermined processes of state formation and failure by a multitude of social actors who compete over the institutionalization of power relations. The article then operationalizes this framework in three sections that partly conceptualize, partly illustrate who negotiates statehood in contemporary Africa (actors, resources and repertoires); where these negotiation processes occur (negotiation arenas and tables); and what these processes are all about (objects of negotiation). Empirical examples drawn from a variety of political contexts across the African continent illustrate these propositions.
This chapter reviews the definition and characterization of the asset management contract, the determination of the applicable law, the regulation and self-regulation that apply, the duties of an asset manager and the relevant standards, and examines the liability of asset managers. It is the Swiss Chapter in an international comparative survey of these topics.
Cette thèse aborde principalement le phénomène de l'allocation des déchets entre filières de traitement des déchets. Les connaissances obtenues d'une étude de cas exploratoire sur la gestion du déchet de bois en Suisse et d'une revue de la littérature scientifique ont conduit à développer la méthode analytique du processus d'allocation des déchets. Cette méthode est mise en œuvre dans une étude de cas sur l'allocation des déchets ménagers dans le Canton de Genève. Elle constitue une méthode simple, reproductible et accessible pour l'évaluation des systèmes de gestion des déchets. Cette thèse se poursuit avec la création d'une méthode hybride pour l'évaluation des politiques de gestion des déchets et de ses instruments. Cette méthode est appliquée à l'évaluation des politiques genevoises de tri des déchets urbains qui constitue une approche fiable pour mesurer l'efficacité des instruments politiques.

Les inventions revendiquant des cellules souches sont exclues de la brevetabilité en Suisse du fait de l’utilisation (et la destruction) d’embryons et de parthénotes. La présente contribution examinera si, au regard des récents développements scientifiques et de la jurisprudence européenne ICS (C-364/13), l’exclusion suisse de brevetabilité de ces inventions est toujours pertinente.
Organizational ambidexterity has emerged as a new research paradigm in organization theory, yet several issues fundamental to this debate remain controversial. We explore four central tensions here: Should organizations achieve ambidexterity through differentiation or through integration? Does ambidexterity occur at the individual or organizational level? Must organizations take a static or dynamic perspective on ambidexterity? Finally, can ambidexterity arise internally, or do firms have to externalize some processes? We provide an overview of the seven articles included in this special issue and suggest several avenues for future research.
