Understanding the way venture capitalists operate and succeed in Emerging Markets is important for a wide spectrum of organizations and professionals. Venture Capital (VC) companies aiming to invest in the region should have a clear conception of the area and its cultural distinctiveness. Individuals considering pursuing a career in venture capital in Emerging Markets must understand its inherent challenges and requirements for being a successful professional. Additionally, it is valuable for institutional investors to understand the inherent cultural differences and challenges of the region so that their expectations from the venture capital partnership they back are realistic and in line with the specificities of the region. This paper that will be presented at LevelUp Conference in Morroco exposes lessons learned from emerging economies that can be directly applied to the Moroccan reality given the similarities in term of development.
